Plans Vs. Zombies

This was the plan.

I was going to spend the previous long weekend lying in bed and enjoying the guilty brainless pleasures of a Zombie Moviefest. My playlist from the undead was all lined up: 28 Days Later, 28 Weeks Later, Planet Terror, I Am Legend, Dawn of the Dead, Day of the Dead, Night of the Living Dead, Shaun of the Dead, and the Resident Evil trilogy.

But as the cliché goes, life imitates art. In my case, no sooner had I popped the first DVD into the player when some invisible virus seized my respiratory system. It swiftly transformed me into a sneezing, wheezing abomination draining brain fluids from his nasal cavities.

By dawn, I had become a shuffling, groaning pile of biohazardous waste.

"Diseased pariah" would have described me as well.

And so it was that I did spend the long weekend - and a good part of the succeeding week - in bed, as originally planned. But quarantined from humanity, watching my fellow infected onscreen inflicting viral plague upon living tissue, as I, for my part, infected tissue, hankie, undershirt, pillowcase, and bedsheet with my radioactive green contagion.

I hate it when life mutates plans into zombies.

  5. @ DB, Ternie, and engel : Oh, I am better, thank you. This was just a post-script to last week's viral misadventure, and the reason why I'm presently a non-smoker.

The thing is, symptoms of nicotine withdrawal ran simultaneously with whatever plague I was carrying, so uh, it was really, really fun there for a while. I think there are still some allergens or contaminants in the air because I still have a few sneezing bouts, but the light-headedness, fatigue, and general feeling of malaise have gone.

    Ang saya-saya.

@ Ming : Uhm yes. That's why I got my Zombie Moviefest in the end, nevertheless.

And today, I started a Vampire Film Festival. No Twilight, though. That piece of shit is an affront to the entire vampire genre.

  11. @ Ester : Well, Poison Ivy's seen better days, yes.

But I'd still hit Bane with extreme prejudice.

@ hot_bicycle : Misery loves company. So come, let us trade bodily fluids *aherm aherm pesteng aherm*

@ Sean : I only saw the first SR&R - the one where the ref ate Janice. I can't remember if the Undin episode was in SRR&R II, but the Manananggal with Bistek and Irma Alegre was in SR&R I, right?

@ DB : I so want to see Zombieland but I've yet to secure a good DVD copy.

@ Ming : Just because someone rose from the dead after 3 days doesn't make him a zombie - or does it?
